Q. What are the curfew hours in Palos Heights?
Age 17 and under - SUN-THURS 10:30PM-6:00AM FRI-SAT 11:30- 6:00AM
Teens in violation of curfew are also subject to suspension of driving privileges. Please know where your teens are going and with whom.
 
Q. How do I stop solicitors from visiting my home?
To avoid solicitors, residents should post a "No Solicitors Invited," sign on their front door or other prominent location.  Solicitors must be registered with the City of Palos Heights, and their practices are legislated by ordinance.  In the event that a solicitor comes to your residence after you have posted a sign, notify the Police Department since this is a violation of City Ordinance.  The Ordinance prohibits solicitation prior to 10 AM or after 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, after 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays, or at anytime on Sunday or on state or national holidays.  The Ordinance does not, however, apply to persons seeking contributions on behalf of charitable or religious organizations or when undertaken by a person under 16 years of age. 
  
Q. Will the Palos Heights Police Department take my fingerprints for a job application or professional license?  
The  Police Department will take fingerprints for job applications, a professional license or immigration purposes free of charge for residents of Palos Heights or for those who work in Palos Heights. For all others there is a fee of $25. 
 
Q. Does the Police Department offer tours of their department?
The Crime Prevention Unit offers tours of the Police Department to all interested groups. Contact the Crime Prevention Office at 708-448-5060 to schedule a tour.
 
Q. How do I get a copy of a police report?
Accident reports are released  to the involved parties and their insurance companies at a cost of $5.00.  They are available at the Police Department  Administrative office three days after the crash was reported.  All other police reports are released pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.  Reports of incidents that are still under investigation or still have pending court  issues will not be released.  
 
Q. Does the Police Department provide talks to interested civic or community organizations?
Yes, as a means of providing professional guidance in a wide variety of areas relating to law enforcement, the Palos Heights Police Department's Speaker's Bureau will provide a speaker free of charge to civic groups and other community organizations. Request must be submitted in writing to the Chief of Police at 7607 W. College Dr., Palos Heights, IL 60463 at least 3 weeks prior so that schedules may be arranged to accommodate the request. For information, call 708-448-5060. If no answer, please leave your name and a number where you can be contacted.
 

Q. Will the police department help me install a child safety seat?

Police Officers from the Palos Heights Police Department, who are trained Child Safety Seat Technicians will assist you with the proper installation of your child safety seat(s). The Technicians will look for improperly installed, broken or recalled safety seats, and will inspect your child safety seat FREE of charge.
